Organic texture and warm neutral coloring give this pair of fish sculptures a distinctive character inspired by the sea. The Faelan Sculptures are crafted from stoneware as a set of two coordinating fish in different sizes, each defined by a rounded body, pronounced facial features, dimensional fins, and a sculpted tail. Measuring 10L x 5.5W x 7H and 8L x 4W x 5H, the two pieces create natural variation in scale while sharing the same materials and finish. Their compact, full-bodied forms are softened by gently irregular contours that keep the sculptures from appearing overly precise or stylized. Much of the upper surface is covered in a dense, porous-looking texture composed of tiny pits and raised areas, giving the stoneware an appearance reminiscent of weathered coral or naturally worn marine surfaces. This heavily textured treatment gradually transitions into smoother areas along the lower bodies, allowing the contrast between surfaces to become an important part of the design. Soft ivory and beige tones dominate the palette, while scattered areas of tan and muted brown create subtle variation across the textured portions of each fish. Sculpted fins extend from the sides and backs, and the tails feature individually defined sections that add dimension to the silhouettes. Small eyes and softly formed mouths complete the fish forms without making them overly whimsical. The combination of neutral color, tactile texture, rounded proportions, and recognizable marine imagery gives the Faelan Sculptures a relaxed coastal influence while retaining the substantial look of decorative stoneware.
